A Marshall native, John currently resides in Howell, MI. John has been involved in some kind of woodworking the majority of his life. He became involved in woodturning a number of years ago when he received a used lathe as a gift. After that, he was hooked! He began by creating small items; through these, John began to learn and improve his skills. John’s work currently focuses on segmented woodturning which involves hundreds of individual pieces of wood and several hours to design, construct and turn the piece to the final shape. The technique allows for greater design elements than traditional woodturning and is environmentally friendly as less wood and waste is involved. Designs are created using different colored woods, both domestic and exotic. No stains are used.
