Eastend Welcomes First Artist‑in‑Residence:
Erica Eash
Eastend Arts Center is launching its inaugural Artist‑in‑Residence program with Michigan collage artist Erica Eash (Heartbreak Betty). Running January–June 2026, the residency marks a bold new chapter for Eastend following its recent rebrand.

Eash will open with a solo exhibition, Blueprints & Bombshells, which will run until February 13, 2026. The opening reception is 5-7:30pm, January 31 in the Larson Exhibition Room. The collection pairs vintage Detroit engineering blueprints with striking portraits of women, alongside a dreamy sci‑fi series exploring intuition and identity. Together, the works reflect resilience, strength, and the female experience.

During the residency, Eash will also lead a hands‑on collage workshop, teaching participants how to transform everyday materials into personal storytelling.

The program culminates May 2 with Art of the Alter Ego, a Met Gala‑inspired fashion show in Eastend’s Wagner Ballroom. Local stylists and designers will bring Eash’s collages to life on the runway, blending art, fashion, and performance.

Executive Director Jennifer Conley Darling notes: “Launching our Artist‑in‑Residence program with Erica sets the tone for bold creativity and meaningful public engagement.”
